Have we ever tried having a book club on here?

Would anyone be interested in a group of us reading a book by the same date and discussing it?

dazie

I think we discussed that in the CH.  Don't remember the outcome.

I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

My wife and I watched Everything is Illuminated this evening. I had previously listened to it on audio book and thought that, although the movie caught the gist of the book, it really fell short in the book's scope.

After the movie was over, I told her that the book would make for some excellent book club discussion.

I just found it kind of strange that I mention a good book for a book club discussion on the same night someone on Junto talks about a book club.

Carry on.

we did read a few books for the CH. a couple of them, anyway. i was going to say "house of leaves" was one of them, but that was a TF book club.

i'd re-read "everything is illuminated" to discuss with you guys. although i liked his other book, "extremely loud and incredibly close" better.

also - i agree about the movie falling short.

<- this is a prankapple.

Jessie

I'd try to read along, assuming that the suck ass library here has what you all are reading.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

Beefy

The CH attempted reading The Moviegoer, but the discussion wasn't all that productive.

Gamplayerx

I'll read along, also like Jessie assuming my library has whatever you all pick.  I'm not much of a discusser, though.

dazie

As I recall, the CH book club wanted to pick some (IMO) crappy books.

I'd be all for a book club if the books don't suck.

Everyone may as well coordinate reading HP7.  I'll just stay out of the thread since I'll be taking forever to read it.

Alice

Blech.  No way.

I was thinking about reading Water for Elephants.  But I'm not so sure that's up everyone's alley.

Jessie

I've not read HP1-6.

They're good- light reading, fun stuff.  They get progressively darker and longer, which is kind of cool- it isn't all sunshine and lollypops.  I must admit I bawled like a baby in #5 and #6.

This was fun when I thought you were talking about my posts.

Maybe she was.  What were your fifth and sixth posts on this forum?

Jessie

#5:  I vote for going ahead as scheduled.  I think we need a clean break, and I doubt his sincerity, frankly.

#6:  I thought that too.  There's a lot to go through though.

Not curious enough to actually count for yourself, though, I bet.

The URL may change, but we'll alert everyone to that.  Other than that, it will be the same as ever.
Computer retard question.  Why would it change?

Next time you're there, check out the URL of the sign in page...

Benny's fifth and sixth:

Clearly, you have never experienced the nosehairs and moustache hairs touching.  This is an icky, icky feeling and it causes me to yank and pluck and trim.  Anything to stop it.

All....my...friends...know the low rider.

Low....ri....der.....is a little higher......

Low...ri....der... drives a little slower
Low.... ri....der... is a real goer
Low.... ri...der... knows every street yeah!

Ask a question and I'll try to answer it.  You don't even have to suck my dick.

What are karma points?  What are these credits?  What are these topics?  What the fuck happened to the Clubhouse?  Did everything fall apart the week I was gone?  How the hell do you people have 5000 posts in one week?

dazie

So who did you have to suck?
