So far, it's okay.

I laughed a few times, but it feel s like they're trying too hard.

Hope it gets better.

I knew the former, not the latter.

Marc Summers.  Or Mark.  Who knows?

I've never seen Family Guy.

I still want to be on MXC because it reminds me of Double Dare, only without the orange flags.

I'd pay to do a grownup Double Dare.

I've been catching a lot of reruns and saw two last night that I'd never seen before.  I loved it.  One was where Peter discovered he was black.  That was so funny.  He received reparations from his wife's family who apparently owned his great great grandfather.  Then he proceeded to waste the money making his living room look like Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

Two of my favorite moments in Family Guy are when Margot Kidder trashes the dining room and when E.T. makes a break for it.

By the way, I got my copy of The Family Guy movie yesterday and started watching last night.

I turned it off after about an hour.  Not bad, but not all that great, either.  It revels in the shock value of hearing the characters actually curse.

I was thinking last night... does anyone else find it ironic that Family Guy and American Dad air on Fox?  It just goes to show you that Fox(News) isn't so much about being right wing as it is about making a buck and having some power.  It's about business.

Or maybe I'm just an ass.

fox news is still "new".  The crassness of the Fox Network has been around for well over a decade.  Murdoch just found another market niche to get ratings from.

I especially enjoyed the return of "ssss-AAAAAHHH!" and when Brian whacked Stewie for doing the "working on the book" high-voiced thing.

The episode overall was really good except for the very end, when they all deride Brian.

I also quite enjoyed the Rocky 4 thing.

FG is the only show I watch when it's on.  Well, that, American Dad, and Boondocks, but otherwise, I'm a taper.

Has anyone else noticed that Seth McFarlane's TV families have a fair bit in common?

Stan & Peter:  both had longer hair when they were younger (although Stan's wasn't THAT long)
Francine & Lois:  both have semi-unconventional names for today's audience (I know one Francine and no Loises); both were party girls when they were younger
Hayley & Meg:  both are the older sister, both are built about the same, both get really mad at their fathers for their antics
Steve & Chris:  both have an older sister (kinda lame, but y'know), both look like their fathers in miniature (Chris has the nads on his chin like Peter, and Steve looks like a weak-chinned version of Stan), both have something strange in their closet (Steve = geek collectibles, Chris = evil monkey)
Roger & Brian:  both like their liquor, both are probably smarter than everyone in the family
Klaus & Stewie:  both have European accents, both want something untoward to happen with the matriarch (Stewie = death, Klaus = sex)

Just sayin'.

"A single white girl... living in the city... who works at a magazine!"

Wow, with some of the new shows coming on as midseason replacements, Family Guy hit it right on, didn't they.  Seems as though a preponderance of new shows are about single white girls living in big cities and having success at work but just can't meet the right man although there's always a quirky relative/friend to help out.

*sigh*

If great shows didn't get cancelled, we wouldn't see more drivel.

Consider the creator's background- he worked at Hanna Barbera. HB is famous for churning out look-alike shows with one or two tweaks and that's it. He's just following in the tradition.

People tend to use the word "hate" flippantly, applying it to things like TV shows and the like.  I do it too, but I try not to.  I'd like to let the word have some meaning to it.  I'll save my hate for people like Hitler or Pol Pot (f*ck Strawberry Shortcake).  Hate shouldn't be wasted on something flippant.  There are better ways to channel your emotions.

All that said, I have a pathological f*cking hatred for The Eagles.  HATE.

Heartache tonight.

You must really hate me.

Why?

People tend to use the word "hate" flippantly, applying it to things like TV shows and the like.  I do it too, but I try not to.  I'd like to let the word have some meaning to it.  I'll save my hate for people like Hitler or Pol Pot (f*ck Strawberry Shortcake).  Hate shouldn't be wasted on something flippant.  There are better ways to channel your emotions.

All that said, I have a pathological f*cking hatred for The Eagles.  HATE.

HATE
I'm going to call you "The Dude" from now on.

Question:

In the episode with Seabreeze (Mr Pewterschmidt's dog) we learn that Brian was not neutered.  But in the episode that was on last night, the one with Quagmire getting arrested for peeping on Lois, Peter said, "I got the idea for [the elizabethan collar around quagmire's wang] from when Brian had his operation."

What gives?

Maybe it was a different operation... like he swallowed some change or something.

Last night on Adult Swim:  "PTV", the one where Peter starts his own TV station.

IMO the most hawesome (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hawesome) episode of Season 4.

Highlights:

* The "Police Squad" opening
* "Who the hell was that guy?"
* "Giggity giggity... Giggity goo... stick around"
* "That's MY side-boob!"
* "I'm finished... SNOOOOOOOOOOORE!"
* "I set this up fifteen years ago!"

That last one -- where the clown falls -- my wife and I have been using whenever I'm right about anything.  Instead of saying "you're right", she says "watch out for the clown."

I didn't think it was that funny.  Not as good as the show normally is, anyway.

Last night's smut being read by (the real) Betty White was wonderful.

I dozed off before the 11pm repeat on Adult Swim, and it was one I wanted to see again, too (where Quagmire gets married).  And I forgot to tivo it.

Don't waste your money on the FG trivia game... it wasn't proofread AT ALL.  And I know about 95% of the answers anyway.  Even a casual FG watcher would know at least 70%.

A worthy season premiere.

When they did the Dr Jekyll and Mr Sulu joke, I was like "I don't get it."  But the second beat was funny, and the third beat was worth all the buildup.

Also, you just knew that they were building up to an Evil Monkey appearance, especially after Chris asked Peter if they were still going to the baseball game, but that didn't make it any less awesome.

And, for once, the ending didn't just feel like "oops, that's 23 minutes, show's over."

There were some definite big laughs, but there were enough moments pertaining to the "rape" that weren't funny to me at all.  More like inappropriate for the sake of being inappropriate, but without a hint of humor.

And I'm someone who believes any topic can be made funny if dealt with properly.
