In the past few days I've read "Valhalla Rising" by Clive Cussler, "In Her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner and "Hidden Kitchens: Stories, Recipes and More from NPR's The Kitchen Sisters" by Nikki Silva and Davia Nelson.
The first two are enjoyable fluff, good vacation reading. The third (which I actually read first) is an excellent book if you like NPR. Good stories, some heartrending, most pretty fun. Plus recipes, which are always a treat.
So what are you guys reading?
"Lump of Coal" by Lemony Snicket
"The Fourth Bear" by Jasper Fforde
*Edit* -- And "BAAA" by David Macaulay

I am loving Google Reader.
I am now looking that up.
It is nice as I can read my RSS feeds from ANY computer or my iPhone (or Blackberry).

What do you think of the Digital Photographer's Handbook? I've been contemplating buying something like that very recently but haven't gotten off my ass to make it happen yet.

The one I bought is from 2002 (it was only $6) and it's dated, and I'm not fond of how it's written. I haven't learned much from it.
I want this one:

I just haven't bought it yet.
You would be better off reading a couple of blogs about Digital Photography, as things change so often. Also, you can ask questions and see example and join contests. One of the best bloggers out there (I met him at Blog World) also runs a website for digital photography. Start here:

I 2nd Info's suggestion.
See if you can get on a newsletter list. I used to be on one for PhotoShop that was great, I'm assuming there are similar ones out there for photography.
I'm now reading "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" btw. Lubs me some Half Price Books. $1!
I just read Interworld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves (I read it in one day). Last night I started Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler.

That sounds like an Oprah selection right there.

I've read a lot on that site. Sometimes I like to get off the internet and hold a book in my hands, though. Books can also go in my camera bag. My computer and the whole internet can't.
I am reading some really silly book called "Undead and Unwed" that I got from the ship's library. It seems to be about a blond former model turned vampire queen who really loves designer shoes.
i've moved on from too fat to fish, to the bro code.
I read all of Atonement this weekend. It's a very good book. The movie is an excellent adaptation, near perfect, really.

That book is the first in a series. I've listened to the first 3 or 4 of them. They are mindless fun.

Good to know. :D
To Kill a Mockingbird.
Much much better than I remember it being when I had to read it in high school. I wrote a paper on it, comparing it to SE Hinton's The Outsiders. Wish I still had it to see what kind of BS I spouted. :)
I love that book so much.
I've been on the verge of starting Little Brother (http://www.amazon.com/Little-Brother-Cory-Doctorow/dp/0765319853/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233020591&sr=1-1) for a while now.

the label on my underwear. Next to size it says "DAMN!!"
the most frustrating pattern in the history of my knitting life. I have probably looked at this piece of paper and re-read it over and over in the time it took you all to finish your books.
Have you tried writing it out yourself? I found that if I was working on something that was like "K2 P4 KO repeat til end" or whatever, it helped to get some lined paper and write out every single line of knitting, especially if there was a repeat. Then, when you finish each row of knitting, cross off the corresponding line on the paper.

its the chart of the design that is killing me. The number of stitches in the design, the size of the squares, the colors I picked.... all a bad combo it seems.
I hate following charts, so I feel your pain. I tried some illusion knitting a while back and finally just gave up.
I like the colors.
I'm jealous, I wish I had the patience for knitting.

Everybody go read some John Updike....
Only because he passed away today. I wouldn't recommend him for any other reason.

I've thought about reading The Witches of Eastwick a few times.
"Love in the Time of Cholera"
Not bad, but kind of difficult to pay attention to. The author tends toward short transitions between story lines, and sometimes I have a hard time following what's going on.
Not bad though- I'm curious to see how it all pans out.

I'm listening to Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. It's great with the readers doing decent Russian accents.

I picked this up at the flea market so I'd have something to read while eating lunch alone. Turned out to be a pretty good book.
It looks interesting.
I'm still slogging through Love...Cholera, but now I'm also reading "Michael Tolliver Lives" and "Baghdad Without a Map" which are both much better.
I went to the library. Now I'm reading some quality trash and am totally content: Plum Spooky
Whatever it is you're reading I'd rather just watch the DVD version.
It'd be awesome if they made a DVD version of the Stephanie Plum books. How fun would that be?
