The first house I lived in was next door to my uncle and his 5 kids. My parents loved it.
What's the house like?

Lifelong debt... the American Dream.

It's not really all that large. Much bigger than what we currently live in, but our current house is teeny tiny. I'm trying not to get excited about the prospects of living there, but I really do want him to accept our bid. We love the area and raising our daughter next to her two cousins( one 3; one 6 months old ) would be a real treat.
I know. I was teasing you. I've seen your house. :)
Is it really 5700 sq feet? Where I come from, that's pretty damn big.

Yes, that's the lot size. A 5700 square foot house would be ginormous.

Depends on the market, I know Phoenix is slow. We are going to offer 80% of the listing price. There are a glut of homes here.
Good luck Bish! I hope the house isn't 5700 feet. That would be like 2 million dollars.
My boss recently bought a 6000 square foot house. Square feet? Whatever. Big ass house.

We're actually offering a wee bit over the asking price. Luckily, the owner is pretty good friends with my sister and brother in law, so we have something of an inside line. We know he's already gotten one bid at full price. We're hoping the family-link will make our bid stick out. However, to be honest, I'm fully expecting someone to come along and power bid the property and blow us out of the water. I'm not optimistic.
You could get two and a half houses for that much here. It's like better than BOGO.
Yeah, you could probably get that here for about $175k.
jesus q. christ, man
at that kinda pricing there's no way i'd get a house in town here :P
goo ruck, though

I refuse to live in a part of the country where there are huge flying roaches.
I'm a total tomboy, and I'm not scared of snakes or mice or bugs in general, but those bastards will send me screaming like a girl every time.
Roaches are harmless.
Unless they crawl in your mouth while you sleep at night.
We are paying about $100 a square foot.
Holy shitfuck. We got it.

So when's moving day?
Closing date is April 13th. We'll be getting ready and cleaning up the place we rent so our landlord can try to rent it out again. Our rental-agreement was supposed to go till September but my Landlord rocks. He said he'd only expect us to pay half of May's rent if he couldn't rent it by then. Very fair. I'm excited. And terrified.
Congrats!
That's awesome!
Congratulations! I hope you will be very happy in your new home.
Congrats.
Yay! I'm very excited for you!
If you need moving help, I have a teenager I can send over.
it's pretty nerve wracking. However, the house is in an area of Alexandria, Va that will appreciate for along time. Basically, they'll have to nuke Washington DC for Del Ray to go down in prices. So, the investment is good. My job is really stable and Nesh's job has been shoring up a good deal. As well, we have a pretty good network of established family members if we ever run into trouble.
Plus, I get to raise my daughter next to her cousins( my neice will be about 1 year difference to Helena ) which is a -huge- deal to me. I never got to know my cousins - we were military brats and never spent time with them outside of funerals and weddings. We're excited.
Also terrified.
Yay! Good luck!

If it was a boy there was a fair chance I was going to name him "John Falstaff Runnels" -- which is exactly the same name as Falstaff... he goes by his middle name. He feels it's more distinguished.
Either that or I would have named him Wedge.

DC said that's possible if we want to do it that way.
I was just going to say, that'll require dc's involvement, since he holds the purse strings.
