Like Beowulf, it was worth the money I paid to see it.

There was one really cool part though, that made everyone in the theater (all 18 of us) say WHOA!  (even Ursus- so you know it had to be something really surprising)

Flawed, but still intriguing.  Like a kiddie version of V for Vendetta.  Definitely going to read the book now.

Yeah, have to say I wasn't expecting how that went down.

I was expecting blood and gore.  That was kind of odd to "want" I think.

Oh- and another thing- the character Lyra has the most fantastic knit coat and hats.  I especially like the hat she wears toward the end of the film.  I'm going to make one for my daughter, and possibly myself.  It looks easy- extra chunky stockinette, knit into a rectangle and sewed together on one edge so that R1 is the roll of the hat in the front.

Very cute.

Probably more than 180 million if you factor in prints and ads.

I imagine it's both.  If it were a better film, it would rope in some of those who had trepidation about it.  That said, there are a lot of petty, fragile people out there who had their minds made up about the film long before it came out and without ever seeing it.

I'm getting kind of cranky with these hyped films that I'm really looking forward to turning out to be meh-tastic.
