Browser Question

Okay, so, I'm attempting to look something up on the Real.com website about Rhapsody To Go (for which I purchased a device that the site led me to believe was compatible, when it was not).  However, since I'm on a mac, and Rhapsody To Go isn't available for Macs, I'm redirected to a "you can't look at that, we don't do rhapsody for macs, here are our other shitty products for mactards" page.  Is there something I can do in Firefox (or Safari, but this seems less likely) to make the site think I'm on a PC?  Or would it be easier to just wait until I get home?

I don't know of any browsers that would let you change it.  Anytime you go to a webpage a bunch of crap gets sent over that the computer on the other end uses to decide whether it trusts you and what crap to send you back.  I think you're going to have to wait until you get to a winblows machine.

Yeah, I bought the Samsa e130, the only player on that page that doesn't have the little "Rhapsody to go" graphic next to it.  Since I've already opened the product, I'm really pissed off that that's even a featured player, since it doesn't support the part of their service that deals with portable devices.  It took me an hour and a half to figure out why they were asking me to pay for tracks I was supposed to be able to transfer to it for free.  I asked them to pay for my restocking fee when I return it.  We'll see what they say.  I think that if they tell me to stick it in my ass, I'll go over to Napster (Who, by the way, are more clear about what devices support what).

Yes, if the player I bought was supported by the service.  As it is, I can only put tracks that I pay for individually on the unit.  The whole point of the Rhapsody-to-Go service is that you pay a subscription fee to put however many tracks you want on your device for as long as you have the service.

benny, you can try getting the User Agent Switcher extension for firefox.  it switches a bit of text that most web sites check to see your system info.  i don't know of a way to change it in safari.  if the page tries to actually do something windows-specific in order to check your system, you'll still get bumped out.
